Protect Your Eyes

  1. Moisture-eyes. The best thing you can do to improve the way your eyes look: moisturize the skin around them. Look for creams containing glycerin, sodium hyaluronate and vitamin E.
  2. Prevent wrinkles. Studies show that Retin-A can increase collagen thickness. Retinol, Retin-A’s gentler over-the-counter cousin, may also help. If you have sensitive skin, try eye creams with the plant-based wrinkle smoother kinetin.
  3. To help fade dark circles: try to get between eight and nine hours of sleep each night, which helps minimize shadows and puffiness. Look for eye creams with vitamin K, which helps constrict capillaries and make veins less noticeable, and the natural skin lightener’s kojic acid and licorice extract.
  4. Brighten eyes instantly. A concealer or eye cream that has reflective pigment brightens the darkest areas under eyes. Apply a brightener, then dab on a light-reflecting concealed where necessary.
  5. Protect your eyes from the sun. The skin around the eye area is thinner and less capable of manufacturing collagen than skin in other places. The best solution: use eye crèmes with SPF15 or higher every day to protect from the sun’s collagen-depleting rays.
